Cost of study:

Studying in the USA is relatively expensive, but costs vary significantly by university type.

  • Undergraduate: USD 25,000 – 60,000 per year
  • Postgraduate: USD 20,000 – 50,000 per year
  • Living expenses: USD 10,000 – 18,000 per year

Note: Private universities are on the higher end, while public/state universities are comparatively more affordable.

Visa: Students apply for the F-1 visa, which requires proof of funds (tuition + living expenses for 1 year), an admission offer (I-20), and an interview.

During studies: Students can work limited hours on campus.

Post-study work:

  • 1 year of work permission through Optional Practical Training (OPT) for non-STEM fields
  • Up to 3 years through OPT for STEM fields

Long-term stay: Depends on securing an H-1B work visa.
